Earlier this week, Groupon joined the mobile payments industry with the announcement of Groupon Payments.  Groupon Payments will provide a mobile payment service similar to Square. What does this mean for the future of mobile payments?

Publishers Need To Be More Aggressive With Mobile Strategies, Or Be Left Behind
On Tuesday morning at OMMA Mobile Europe, Rob Grimshaw, managing director of FT.com, shared his thoughts on the state of publishing on mobile. During his keynote, he stated that “for all the talk about mobile media, industry executives probably don’t yet understand the extent to which consumers are living their lives on mobile devices and platforms.” He went on to share that mobile makes up 10% of ad revenue for FT.com.

In a recent survey, almost a quarter of those asked said they would rather be forced to shut off their water for a day than to turn off their iPad. An astounding 22 percent of respondents claimed they would rather go without electricity for a day. Do the results of this survey surprise you? Are you a loyal iPad devotee as well?
